In October 2009, Sul Ross was awarded a Title V Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) development grant from the U.S. Department of Education for Project Puertas Abiertas (Open Doors). The purpose of the project is to increase Hispanic and other low-income students' attainment of graduate degrees and provide new pathways to these degrees for students through distance education.
